Toolset Feature » Send & Receive Syslog Messages; Decode Syslog Messages
- Listen for incoming syslog messages
- Decode the syslog messages for logging purposes
- Send syslog messages to another syslog server
The Syslog Server tool from SolarWinds listens for incoming syslog messages on UDP port 514, decodes the messages for logging purposes, and stores the messages in a local database.
With the Syslog Server, you can also send syslog messages to another syslog server. This feature is commonly used to add messages manually to a remote syslog database during a system upgrade or while troubleshooting a network problem.
