Server & Application Monitor provides built-in monitoring templates for 200+ applications. These templates comprise component monitors to measure health and performance metrics of applications using WMI, SNMP, JMX, VMware, and API protocols.

Monitor custom applications in the cloud
In addition to Server & Application Monitor's agentless architecture, there is an optional agent available to monitor custom and commercial applications located in your public cloud environment (Amazon EC2, Microsoft Azure, and Rackspace). You can also use this agent to monitor servers and applications within your on-premises environment that you are not able to monitor using agentless technology due to firewall issues, network bandwidth, or security restrictions.
SAM API Pollers—Monitor Metrics via External REST APIs
You can use the API poller feature to monitor metrics via external REST APIs, providing an easier way to collect data from modern application stacks, unique hardware, IoT devices, and other entities using the REST API to pass information. And now you can collect 10X more metrics per API poller. Define your API endpoints, pick the metrics you want to monitor, provide credentials, and let SAM begin monitoring without the need for custom scripts. Create alerts for numeric and string monitoring; the SAM API poller also allows you to chain multiple requests within a single poller. To simplify the management of our API pollers, we provide an API poller management page for the creation, modification, and deployment of API pollers in bulk across your SAM nodes.
