How is SolarWinds Observability Self-Hosted deployed?

SolarWinds Observability Self-Hosted can be deployed on-premises or in Microsoft Azure, AWS, or GCP instances you manage. Our self-hosted solution is differentiated from SolarWinds Observability SaaS, which is our cloud-native offering. The two can be connected and their data shared. This allows self-hosted deployments to access agentic AI capabilities in the cloud and provides an easy path to migration should you choose to do so in the future.

What is Platform Connect?

Platform Connect provides connectivity between SolarWinds Observability Self-Hosted and SolarWinds Observability SaaS. This is used to enable features such as anomaly-based alerting and SW1TM, the SolarWinds AI Agent. You can also share data between solutions for a smooth transition if migrating from one to the other. Platform Connect is an opt-in feature that is controlled by the solution administrator.

What is value-based licensing in Premier tier?

Value-based licensing aligns node pricing to customer value by assigning differentiated weights to entities and node types based on their impact and capability. For example, in the Premier tier of SolarWinds Observability Self-Hosted, customers can monitor containers and Wireless Access Points without using a full licensed node. Instead, they are consumed at a 10:1 ratio; on-prem VMs and cloud entities are consumed at a 3:1 ratio; network devices, servers/hosts, orchestrators/wireless controllers, the Web Performance Monitor (WPM) Player, and storage arrays are consumed at a 1:1 ratio; and ICMP-only nodes are free.

What is included with an Enterprise edition license?

Enterprise editions are options for all license tiers. They are available for environments above 500 nodes and required for environments above 1500 nodes. They include lab licenses, Additional Polling Engines (APEs), additional web servers, High Availability (HA), Enterprise Operations Console (EOC), and Advanced Support.

What is the SolarWinds Observability SaaS Network and Infrastructure subscription?

The Premier tier of SolarWinds Observability Self-Hosted includes entitlements to the network, infrastructure, and cloud monitoring capabilities within SolarWinds Observability SaaS. You can use SolarWinds Observability SaaS to unlock greater visibility and management into your cloud environments. You can also add-on the DEM or APM modules for custom application monitoring or user experience monitoring and then view your self-hosted enriched network and infrastructure data alongside your cloud, APM, and DEM data in the SaaS web interface.
