If you are like me, when doing tuning and optimization efforts, you tend to find a long running query or a query consuming a lot of resources in the form of logical reads. We dig into these queries and many times, we find that it could benefit from an index or adjusting an existing index.

So, we do that. However, what did we just do to the overall workload? Was it good, bad, or indifferent? Watch now as I explore an alternative approach to tuning/optimizing.
