Web Transaction Recorder for Pingdom

Transaction monitoring can help you identify performance issues in critical site flows before your customers start calling.

Setting up a synthetic transaction check in SolarWinds Pingdom is easy.

First, you need to download the SolarWinds Web Transaction Recorder and connect it to your Pingdom account using a Read-Write access token.

The web recorder captures how a user interacts with your website or web app with no scripting required. Simply enter the website you want to monitor, and then go to the page where you want to start recording.

Once you're ready, hit "record."

Now, navigate through the pages to complete the steps of the transaction, just like a user would.

In this example, we are recreating the path an end user might take to download a trial version of SolarWinds Server & Application Monitor.

In this case, we also want to add a text verification to the final step, to make sure the user ends on the download page. To do this, we need to verify that the last page includes the words "thank you."

Once you're done, you can play back your recording to make sure you captured everything you wanted.

Next, name the file and select Save to Pingdom.

Depending on the transaction and location, you may want to adjust the test interval. You can also add custom tags to the check.

You can configure alert settings like Check Importance, whom to alert and when, and set a customized message.

Finally, you have the option to connect an integration, so you and your team can receive alerts in your favorite app, like Slack, PagerDuty, and more. Then hit, Modify Check.

That's it! You're ready to start monitoring.
