Set the goal. The agents do the work. You stay in control.
IT operations teams are expected to manage increasingly complex hybrid environments with limited time and hard-to-fill expertise. Operators spend too much of the day sorting through alert noise, investigating issues across multiple tools, validating configuration changes, and assembling evidence for audits.
Today, SolarWinds introduced Avior™ goal-oriented AI for IT operations. Avior helps teams move beyond prompt-by-prompt assistance by pursuing defined operational outcomes across the environments they already run.

From answering questions to pursuing outcomes
AI assistants can help operators find information or answer questions inside a product. That is useful, but the answer is only the beginning of the work.
Avior starts with the outcome. You define the goal, scope, cadence, data sources, allowed actions, and approval requirements. Role-based agents then gather evidence, investigate, form and test hypotheses, recommend or take permitted action, verify whether conditions improved, and hand the work back when human judgment is required.
Avior is designed for ongoing operational work—not just a single interaction. It establishes a baseline, investigates and acts within defined guardrails, re-measures against the target, and reports whether the outcome was achieved, improved, unchanged, or degraded.
Three ways Avior helps teams move ahead
See What Matters
Avior turns a flood of signals into a focused list of issues that need attention. It works across relevant networks, infrastructure, configuration, change, ticket, and topology contexts, helping teams move beyond single-console triage and focus where action is needed.
Decide with Confidence
Avior helps teams get to a defensible answer with the evidence attached. It collects signals, tests hypotheses, and shows the checks it performed. When data is missing or aged, Avior identifies that limitation and states when something cannot be confirmed rather than guessing.
Command the Outcome
Avior helps teams direct real work while keeping control of it. Teams set the level of autonomy per goal, require approval for higher-risk actions, and maintain visibility into observations, decisions, actions, and outcomes.
Teams can begin with read-only investigation, recommend-only, or dry-run workflows, then extend autonomy as trust is earned and as the workflow supports it.
Built for hybrid IT operations
Avior is a standalone cloud SaaS application designed to work with self-hosted and cloud deployments. Customers do not have to migrate from self-hosted observability to use goal-oriented AI.
Avior operates through supported product connections. It does not directly log in to or operate arbitrary machines. For SolarWinds® Observability Self-Hosted, Platform Connect is the prerequisite for connecting the environment to Avior. Through that supported connection, eligible customers can use goal-oriented AI with the environment they already monitor.
Avior’s initial integration focuses on SolarWinds Observability Self-Hosted and the network engineer role, with curated, validated goals instantiated against the customer’s environment.
Designed for the work teams need to do now
Avior’s initial focus is on first-line operational work that consumes time across IT operations teams. Example outcomes include:
- Reduce alert noise by correlating related events into actionable incidents
- Investigate issues faster with evidence from across the environment
- Reduce configuration and compliance drift against defined policy baselines
- Keep configuration backups current and identify coverage gaps
- Tune recurring alert conditions against observed behavior
- Improve capacity and cost visibility before issues become incidents or unexpected spending
- Maintain cleaner asset and lifecycle information by identifying stale or unknown entities
These goals are designed to help operators shift from executing repetitive tasks to directing outcomes—giving senior engineers more capacity for higher-value engineering without suggesting that technology replaces the people who run the environment.
Control is part of the product
Trust cannot be an afterthought in IT operations. Avior is designed to help teams align agent behavior with governance requirements and risk tolerance:
- Read-only operation supports investigation and intelligence gathering.
- Autonomy and approval controls can be configured per goal.
- Actions use the permissions of the connected SolarWinds account.
- Unknown or unclassified tools fail closed and are held for approval.
- Activity and audit views can provide visibility into background activities and completed tasks, subject to release capabilities.
- Rollback or compensating-action behavior is workflow-specific and should be confirmed before enabling changes in production.
- Teams can start conservatively and extend autonomy as trust is earned.
When risk, permissions, missing capability, or uncertainty requires human judgment, Avior stops and hands the work to a person.
Start with an outcome
Teams can begin with practical operational goals such as:
- “Help us reduce alert noise without losing important signals.”
- “Help us find and remediate configuration drift within our change controls.”
- “Help us prove whether an incident is network-related with evidence our team can review.”
- “Help us keep configuration backups and compliance checks current.”
The right starting point depends on the customer’s environment, supported workflows, and governance requirements. SolarWinds can help identify an initial goal, confirm eligibility, and define the guardrails for a safe evaluation.
Early access begins October 14
SolarWinds Day on October 14, 2026, is planned as the public announcement of Avior and an early-access entry point. Early access is intended for eligible customers, including Advanced, Premier, and Essentials customers with Platform Connect enabled, subject to the customer program and entitlement decisions. Availability, supported goals, integrations, licensing, pricing, and entitlements may vary by release, deployment model, customer program, and entitlement.
Avior brings a practical shift to IT operations: set the goal, let the agents do the work, and stay in control of the outcome.
