How long have you worked in the public sector?

I’ve dedicated nearly 25 years to serving the public sector, from enlisted military service to global support of civilian agencies, defense contracting, and, lastly, providing high-quality professional services to the public sector as a SolarWinds subsidiary. It’s fair to say I’m passionate about serving our public sector customers in any capacity.

How did you get your start in the public sector?

I enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps immediately after high school and was in boot camp during the events of September 11, 2001. Growing up in a small town in Florida, I was eager to see the world, and the Marines gave me that opportunity, taking me to more than 20 countries in the span of five years.

Most of my service was spent at U.S. embassies and the Pentagon as part of diplomatic security and dignitary protection teams. These unique and prestigious roles granted me more global and executive experience than I’d imagined possible prior to joining the military.

Let’s fast-forward to after I separated from the Marines. While completing my executive MBA in 2013, I was classmates with a co-founder of Monalytic’s former sister company. The co-founder recognized my leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills and invited me to join the company to formulate their sales division. That journey led to the creation of Monalytic in 2020. In 2022, Monalytic was acquired by SolarWinds as a wholly owned subsidiary, becoming Monalytic, a SolarWinds Company.

What is your current role at SolarWinds?

As President, Chairman and SMO of Monalytic, a SolarWinds Company, I lead a highly skilled team that delivers expert-level professional services, training, and support to SolarWinds customers within the public sector.

What does a typical day look like for you?

Leading a consulting and services company can be challenging, as it is nearly 100% people-oriented. My days are primarily filled with communication with internal and external executives, while doing whatever it takes to ensure the Monalytic staff are fully supported and enabled in assisting our public sector customers. My primary goals each day are quality of service, customer satisfaction, and SolarWinds brand expansion within the public sector.

Which military skills have been most valuable in your civilian career?

During my military career, I routinely worked with high-ranking officials, which helped me become comfortable engaging with leadership at all levels. That experience translates well to my current role, where I interact with everyone from data center technicians to C-level executives and military officers. I understand their needs and challenges and can communicate effectively across the organization.

What’s your favorite SolarWinds product and why?

One of my favorite tools is User Device Tracker, part of SolarWinds® Observability Self-Hosted. It provides unparalleled visibility into wireless network entities, something that’s critical in today’s distributed and hybrid environments. While I’m a strong advocate for our entire monitoring and observability suite, this feature stands out for its immediate impact on operational efficiency and security.

What continues to drive your commitment to the public sector?

One word: understanding.

I’ve been fortunate in my adult life to experience many aspects of our public sector’s purpose and to work alongside those who’ve sacrificed their time, relationships, and personal safety in support of that purpose. Once someone truly understands the “why” behind the public sector, it’s difficult not to be passionate about supporting it.

At Monalytic, this ethos runs deep. Our team adopts our customers' missions as our own, and we’re proud to help them achieve success. It’s incredibly rewarding to contribute to their mission accomplishment and know that our work makes a tangible difference for our nation as a result.
