How to perform a visual traceroute

Create a new service using the NetPath feature of Network Performance Monitor. Set your probe and a probing interval—choose longer intervals (10 minutes) for more efficient storage and infrastructure usage, or shorter intervals (5 minutes) for a more granular view. After a few minutes, you’ll have your path of nodes, interfaces, and connectors between user and service. After discovering the path, NetPath measures the performance characteristics of each network node and link, making it simple to spot slowdowns. This way, admins gain real-time packet transit information. If you have SolarWinds® Network Traffic Analyzer or Network Configuration Manager, additional data will show up in the visual display.
