Once again SolwarWindws releases another great tool. The install is very easy. Only requirement is EMC's Navisphere CLI. My favorite part is the LUN and Array IOPS reporting as well as the IO response time. This is a great tool for performance monitoring and you can't beat the price! Would like to see SAN front end and back end port performance statistics as well as storage processor memory and CPU utilization. Add that in and it's almost perfect!

It wasn't worthy of adding a "con" but I will note that this tool is somewhat subjective to the type of SAN you have. That being said, for its price it is untouchable in the market for this level of statistic analysis in a multi-vendor SAN environment. (this creates a bit of a trade-off) When you have SANs from many vendors, you want a central point of analysis - not multiple proprietary interfaces from individual make/model. This tool serves this perfectly and if it doesn't support a single feature or control level you need, go back to the proprietary specific tool for that SAN. But all in all, most of what you need to run a healthy, high-availability SAN infrastructure this tool centralizes it to one solid maintenance point with all the stats and monitoring you need. A+ addition to their network/application monitoring platforms. Way to go, guys!

I had been waiting for Solarwinds to come up with a SAN monitor tool for some time and finally they delivered. It a free product that allows you so see how your LUNs are performing. Since most of our environment is virtualized with a bunch of SQL and Exchange clusters, this tool provides good performance metrics for the LUNs. We have an old HP EVA SAN which provides very limited monitoring functionality and thats where this tool helps greatly. Also we have been looking at redesigning our entire SAN environment and this tool has helped greatly in that particular task.
