LANsurveyor Feature » Automatically Generate Network Maps

  • Automate network discovery using ICMP, SNMP, SIP, NetBIOS and more
  • Automatically generate comprehensive network maps
  • Display Level 1 or Level 2 information on network maps

LANsurveyor automatically discovers every device on the network, including routers, switches, servers, wireless APs, VoIP phones, desktops, and printers. LANsurveyor uses industry-standard identification and network discovery methods (ping/ICMP, SNMP, SIP, NetBIOS and more) to scan IP address ranges and find nodes.

LANsurveyor’s automatic network discovery can identify and scan all the network segments connected to your routers—or you can choose to perform automatic network discovery on specified segments. You simply enter the IP address range(s) and SNMP Community Strings, and LANsurveyor automatically starts network discovery.

Once network nodes are discovered, LANsurveyor compiles the information into cohesive, easy-to-view network maps with node icons, colored lines representing network connectivity speed, and labels indicating switch port information. In addition, LANsurveyor features a standard Switch/Hub Ports Report that provides a table of information about all connected nodes.

Not only can LANsurveyor provide a view of the entire network, it also provides the ability to limit the view to individual network segments. LANsurveyor can automatically display Level 1 network maps with just routers and network segments, or you can select Level 2 to display routers, switches, and network segments on your network diagram. You can even create hybrid network maps with just the nodes connected to a specific switch (or switches), plus the rest of the Level 2 network devices.
