Jitter refers to an anomalous performance in the timing of a Fibre Channel network that a bit stream encounters as it traverses a physical medium. Determining the root cause of jitter requires an administrator to have line of sight into network devices and their performance logs. Because jitter can reduce performance on a Fibre Channel network, system management utilities can be configured to notify administrators when jitter occurs.
