What is Fibre Channel Switched Fabric

Fibre Channel Switched Fabric (FC-SW) is a type of switched fabric network topology in which network nodes connect with each other via one or more fibre channel network switches— in particular, via cross bar switches, where it gets the name. Fibre Channel Switched Fabric topology allows the connection of up to 16 million devices, the theoretical maximum. Of the three FC topologies, Fibre Channel Switched Fabric offers the best scalability; it is also requires Fibre Channel switches.
