FC-4 is the Protocol Mapping layer of Fibre Channel (FC). FC-4 is the highest level in the FC structure and encompasses the mapping of upper-layer protocols (ULP), such as IP and SCSI to lower-layer protocols (FC-0 through FC-3). An example of an FC-4 standard is the mapping of SCSI commands to Fibre Channel (FCP-3).
