Direct-Attached Storage (DAS) is a type of digital storage system attached directly to a server or workstation, without an intervening storage network. Direct-Attached Storage typically comprises one or more dedicated storage devices connected to one or more computer servers through a host bus adapter (HBA). Since DAS refers to storage that is attached directly to servers, it is differentiated from storage via a network, as with SAN (storage area network) or NAS (network-attached storage).
