What is a Child Partition

A child partition, such as the virtual drive in a virtual machine, runs its own operating system on a logical partition in an environment, such as Microsoft Hyper-V. The child partition can have dedicated memory and processor resources, allowing it to function autonomously. A child partition must have a parent partition, which is the root partition that operates the hypervisor itself.
