Parity RAID refers to a particular set of RAID levels. Parity RAID includes RAID Levels 3, 4, 5 and 6. Because parity computations in RAID drive arrays for fault tolerance are performed by calculating the data in two drives and storing the results on a third, Parity RAID requires a minimum of three drives in the array.
