Response Time Gauges

SolarWinds NPM provides a number of different types and styles of response time (latency) gauges. Each of the following gauges is available in both linear and radial formats.

Average Response Time

Provides the average response time, or latency, experienced over the selected node during the current monitoring period.

Average Response Time and Packet Loss

Provides two gauges in a single resource. One gauge displays the average response time, or latency, experienced over the selected node during the current monitoring period, and the second gauge displays the packet loss percentage experienced over the selected node during the same monitoring period.

Current Response Time

Provides the current response time, or latency, experienced over the selected node at the time of the last network poll.

Current and Average Response Time

Provides two gauges in a single resource. One gauge displays the current response time, or latency, experienced over the selected node at the time of the last network poll, and the second gauge displays the average response time, or latency, experienced over the selected node during the current monitoring period.

Minimum and Maximum Response Time

Provides two gauges in a single resource. One gauge displays the minimum response time, or latency, experienced over the selected node during the current monitoring period, and the second gauge displays the average response time, or latency, experienced over the selected node during the current monitoring period.

Reported values are updated regularly, on the Polling Interval given in the Polling Details resource.

To find out when the next poll is due, go to the Polling Details resource for the node, and check out the Next Poll.

Thresholds

Thresholds specify which part of the gauge is highlighted as warning or critical values. You can change the warning and critical thresholds.

Click Thresholds, and adjust the critical and warning levels for the metric. This change will be applied on all monitored objects.

Change the type and size of the gauge

  1. Click Edit to open the Custom Type Gauges page.
  2. Edit the resource Title and Subtitle, select the gauge style and size, and click Submit.
  3. Available gauge styles are shown in the lower field at 100% sizing. Gauges may be sized over the range 30‑250% of the displayed size.
