Fixes in this Release

This release of Switch Port Mapper includes the following fixes:

Version 1.0

  • The console version now enables you get extended VLAN information.
  • MAC addresses can now be displayed as all uppercase or all lowercase. This helps when using the console output for scripting where the next process requires MAC addresses to be in a specific case.

Acquiring VLAN Information

The local help that is installed with Switch Port Mapper does not accurately describe how to map VLANs. If you want to map a device with VLANs configured, specify the community string in the following format: communityString@VLAN# where VLAN# is the number of the VLAN you want to connect to. For example, to scan VLAN 2 using the public community string, type public@2.

Known Issues

The following issues may arise in your installation of Switch Port Mapper. These are known issues that are being addressed for a future release.

  • Links in the thwack tab show a hand cursor, however the link is activated by using a double-click instead of a single-click.
  • When combining rows with identical values in the results grid, the port type icons do not combine correctly. The port icon of the first combined row is displayed for the entire group. To avoid this, change the settings to not combine rows with identical values.
  • When using hot keys to open the View menu and then navigating via Up/Down arrows the View menu may appear to be missing some menu items on some systems.
  • The descriptive text for ifType 136 is listed as l2ipvlan when it should display l3ipvlan.
  • SolarWinds Switch Port Mapper is not compatible with Toolset version 10.0. Switch Port Mapper will not install when Toolset 10.0 exists on the same computer. Please upgrade your SolarWinds Toolset to version 10.1 or later before installing Switch Port Mapper.
