Congratulations on your purchase of SolarWinds IP Address Manager (Orion IPAM). Orion IPAM leverages an intuitive point-and-click interface to allow you to easily investigate IP address space issues. By periodically scanning the network for IP address changes, Orion IPAM maintains a dynamic list of IP addresses and allows engineers to plan for network growth, ensure IP space usage meets corporate standards, and reduce IP conflicts.

Why Install this Version

Orion IPAM expands its feature set to include the following:

  • Historical Tracking of IP and MAC addresses
  • IPv6 support: The ability to add IPv6 addresses for planning purposes
  • Set Transient scan intervals on a per subnet basis
  • The ability to disable / enable duplicate subnets
  • Can be installed as a stand-alone product

Notes Note: If you install IPAM and NPM on the same server, NPM will need to be on version 10.1.2 or higher and any additional pollers and websites must also be upgraded.

Warning Warnings:

As with all modifications to your production environment, it is suggested that you complete the following tasks before implementing any changes:

  • Ensure you first create a backup of your database.
  • Test the change in a lab environment that mimics your production environment. If you need a temporary license to install an instance of the software in a lab, please download an evaluation copy of the latest software from our website. Evaluation copies come with a fully functional 30-day license.

    Installing this Version

Note: Installing Orion IPAM as a module requires an installation of Orion Network Performance Monitor v10.1.2. The system requirements for Orion IPAM do not exceed Orion NPM requirements.

When installing IPAM with additional pollers or websites, you must updagrade the pollers to the latest core version by installing the IPAM Compatability pack.

During the licensing process for IPAM, the configuration program asks you to activate your license. You will need to login to the customer portal using your CustomerID and Password to obtain your Activation Key.

When using Windows 2008 or (Vista for evaluations only), UAC must be disabled for the duration of the upgrade (until after configuration wizard completes).

    Uninstalling

To uninstall Orion IPAM, use the Change and then Remove option on Orion IPAM available in Add/Remove programs.

To remove the IPAM link on the Orion website, delete the IPAM website folder from your Inetpub folder: \SolarWinds\Orion

Windows 2008 users with UAC Enabled may require an Administrator account login. Disabling UAC for the duration of the uninstall will bypass this.
