AUSTIN, TX - May 08, 2007 - SolarWinds, a leader in network management software, today announced the availability of Orion NetFlow Traffic Analyzer version 2.0 (NetFlow Traffic Analyzer), a module in the Orion Network Management Platform (Orion). The latest version is available for immediate evaluation on their website at www.solarwinds.com.
Network engineers typically have very limited visibility into who is using network bandwidth and how they are using it. Without knowing which applications and which users account for the most bandwidth usage, network engineers cannot easily diagnose network problems or properly match network capacity to business needs.
NetFlow Traffic Analyzer version 2.0 provides a new level of visibility into network traffic behavior and trends. By leveraging Cisco's NetFlow protocol to extract data from routers, NetFlow Traffic Analyzer provides an in-depth view into which users and applications are consuming the most bandwidth.
"Customers are pleased with the price performance of NetFlow Traffic Analyzer," said Denny LeCompte, product manager at SolarWinds. "In addition, the combination of the NetFlow analysis product with Orion Network Performance Monitor provides network engineers with an integrated view of network traffic with availability and configuration information in a package that's easily deployed."
This new version also provides network engineers with vital information to more quickly detect, diagnose, predict and resolve network slowdowns and outages. Key enhancements include:
- Enhanced Historical Data Storage and Analysis -- Previously, only a limited set of historical data could be kept due to database size limitations. Version 2.0 improves database storage efficiency by more than 100 times.
- Increased Performance -- More than 10 times the number of interfaces can be monitored with version 2.0, or 10 times the amount of data can be collected.
- Full Reporting Capabilities -- Orion-style reports can now be run and scheduled with Orion NetFlow Traffic Analyzer version 2.0.
- Historical NetFlow Forensics -- Analysis of network traffic is much easier by enabling insight into specific periods of time. This is extremely important when diagnosing “what happened?†during a given time period, enabling a forensic analysis of the NetFlow data.
