  Is training required to prepare for the exam?

  To successfully meet the knowledge requirements for the exam, each candidate will require different levels of education depending on current knowledge. You can gauge your readiness by reviewing the exam’s objectives and evaluating your knowledge in each area. The SolarWinds Certified Professional homepage can be leveraged to access recommended training content to help bridge any knowledge gaps you may have. You can also leverage thwack’s Certification Forum to discuss the exam’s content areas with other individuals who are studying for, or already passed, the SCP exam.

  How much does the exam cost?
• 
  The exam typically costs $150.00 USD, but varies from country to country. To verify exam pricing in your location, check with Prometric’s SolarWinds Certified Professional exam page.

  How do I schedule my exam at a local testing center?
• 
  The SCP exam is proctored though Prometric’s worldwide testing center locations and exam scheduling is done through Prometric's online registration process

  How long will it be before I am notified if I passed the exam?
• 
  Upon completion of the exam at an authorized testing center, you will immediately be notified of your status before leaving the facility. If you pass, no further action is necessary on your part. If you do not pass, a report indicating your pass rate of the questions in each section will be provided. This will enable you to identify which objective areas you should study before attempting a retake of the exam.

  What if I did not pass the exam?
• 
  If you do not pass the exam, the post exam report should be used to identify areas where you need to increase your knowledge. Study resources can be found at the SolarWinds Certified Professional homepage. Per exam policy, you must wait a minimum of five business days before retaking the exam. If you fail the exam 3 times, you must contact certification@solarwinds.com to request a reset and be eligible for another retake.

  What is included in the SCP welcome kit?
• 
  After successfully passing the SCP exam, you will receive a welcome kit which includes a congratulations letter, a SolarWinds SCP certificate, and a SCP branded travel mug. You will also receive a Certified badge attached to your thwack profile.

  How can I check the status of my certification welcome kit?
• 
  After passing the SCP exam, an account will be created for you in the SolarWinds certification portal. Please be sure to confirm your demographic information in the portal, as your address must be verified before your welcome kit is shipped. The portal enables you to check your certification status, expiration date, and track the shipment of your welcome kit.

  How can someone verify the authenticity of my certification?
• 
  SolarWinds has established a certificate validation portal which can be used to verify an individual's certification status using the certificate verification number located at the lower left corner of your certificate.

  What media player do I need to watch the SCP Program videos?

  The SCP Program Videos can be watched on Windows Media Player version 9, 10 or 11. Please wait for the video to finish loading before attempting to fast forward or rewind.

  How can I download a copy of the SCP videos?

  The SCP videos can be downloaded and saved through Windows Media Player. Click a video to start the stream, then press ‘Alt’ on your keyboard, click ‘File’ then click ‘Save As’. This will enable you to save the .wmv file to your local system.
