ALERT FILTERING, ROUTING & ESCALATION

Get Alerts to the Right People with Advanced Filtering, Routing, & Escalation

The speed in which an alert can be resolved relies heavily on effective distribution.

Tribal knowledge, mass-emailing alerts, and busy IT staff filtering their own alerts leads to flooded inboxes, alert fatigue, and alerts flat-out ending up with the wrong person—time and time again.

Alert Central gives you a single location to easily set up and manage alert filtering, routing, and escalation policies.

  • Test routing and escalation before putting alerts into production
  • Filter out duplicate or non-critical alerts
  • Route alerts differently depending on their source, severity, affected object, or any contents of the original alert email
  • Automate routing and escalation according to rules you define by group, using on call calendars, mass notification, individual users, or any combination
  • Acknowledge, reply, and close alerts from a mobile device without VPN

ON-CALL CALENDARING

Easily Create On-Call Calendars for One or Multiple Teams and View in Context

Decentralized, manual on-call scheduling can result in missed or delayed alert responses and unfair or inefficient on-call responsibilities.

Alert Central has integrated on-call calendaring that makes it easy to create, update, and use on-call calendars for any number of groups, without having to switch between tools or systems.

In a quick glance, you get a view of who is on-call across the entire organization.

Flexible calendaring allows for:

  • One or multiple on-call calendars for each group
  • Multiple team members to be on-call from each team
  • Around-the-sun rotation
  • Primary/secondary rotation
  • And many other configurations

With this up-to-date on-call calendar, Alert Central is able to automatically route alerts to the appropriate engineer.

ALERT ANALYSIS & REPORTING

Alert Analysis & Reporting

Alerts can share symptoms of larger problems in your environment. Alert Central makes it easy to view, interpret, and share what’s happening in your system.

Inside Alert Central you can quickly see:

  • If an alert is being worked on
  • Who’s working on an alert
  • The alert severity and source
  • Past alerts based on source, object, severity, user, or group

You can also quickly drill-down into the details and history of an alert to find more information.

Weekly reports are sent to each user about their group and to the admin on system-wide statistics. The weekly reports feature makes it easy to analyze critical statistics such as:

  • Who is responding to the bulk of alerts
  • How quickly each member acknowledges and resolves alerts
  • Which devices or tools are triggering the bulk of alerts
  • And more

  • Alert Central is part of Solarwind's
policy of giving back to the IT
comunity that has helped make us
one of the fastest growing software
    companies in the world.
